Giving something back

Cathy works with local rescue organisations to help dogs that need training to find their forever home.

Training dogs that need a second chance

A lot of dogs end up in rescue not because they're bad dogs โ€” but because they've got behaviour issues that their previous owners couldn't manage. Reactivity, pulling, jumping, fear. Things that are very fixable with the right training but that make adoption harder.

Cathy and Andrea work with local rescue organisations to give some of these dogs a proper chance. They donate training time to help them become more adoptable โ€” better manners, more confidence, fewer triggers.

It's not a large program and she doesn't take every case. But it's a genuine part of what she does, alongside the paying work.

The kind of dogs she works with:
  • Rescue dogs with leash reactivity
  • Dogs with fear-based behaviour that's putting off adopters
  • High-energy dogs that need basic structure before placement
  • Dogs flagged by rescues as "needs training" before adoption can proceed

If you work with a rescue organisation

They are selective about which dogs they take on for charity placements โ€” they can't do everything. But if you're a rescue with a dog that genuinely needs training to be placed, it's worth getting in touch.

Guardians of Animals in Crisis

Above & Beyond has worked alongside Guardians of Animals in Crisis โ€” a local rescue focused on animals in difficult situations. Some of the dogs on this page came through that relationship.

Lady โ€” rescue dog training case study

Lady

Came to us as a fearful dog with no socialisation history. After training, adopted into a family and living well.

Maisie โ€” rescue dog training case study

Maisie

Reactive and undersocialised โ€” a dog most rescues struggle to place. Training built her confidence enough to find a home.
