Private Behaviour Consultations

When your dog needs individual attention โ€” one-on-one sessions focused on what they actually need.

Dog behaviour consultation โ€” trainer working with reactive dog

Some dogs need more than a class

Group classes are great for a lot of dogs. But if yours has specific behaviour issues โ€” reactivity, aggression, fear, separation anxiety, or something that's been getting worse โ€” a private consultation lets us focus entirely on what's actually going on.

She'll assess the dog, work out what's driving the behaviour, and give you a plan that works for your specific situation at home.

Common issues Cathy works with:
  • Reactivity โ€” other dogs, people, traffic
  • Aggression (leash, resource guarding, fear-based)
  • Excessive barking
  • Pulling on lead
  • Jumping and impulse control
  • Separation anxiety basics
  • General confidence building in anxious dogs

How a consultation works

It's a conversation and a hands-on session โ€” not a lecture. We work with both you and your dog.

1. You book and describe the issue

The booking form has a field for describing your dog's specific behaviour. The more detail you give, the better prepared Cathy can be before the session.

2. We contact you to confirm

She'll confirm the time, location, and any preparation needed โ€” and may ask follow-up questions about the dog's history or triggers.

3. The session

Hands-on work with you and your dog. We explain what we're doing and why, so you can replicate it consistently at home โ€” the practice between sessions is what makes the difference.

Some dogs we've worked with

Every dog is different. Here are a few examples of the kind of work we do in private sessions.

Maisie โ€” dog behaviour case study

Maisie

Extreme leash reactivity toward other dogs. Worked on threshold management and attention exercises โ€” now reliably walks past other dogs without reacting.

Bob โ€” dog behaviour case study

Bob

Resource guarding around food and toys. Multiple sessions covering management, counter-conditioning and building trust โ€” family can now handle his food safely.

Ray โ€” dog behaviour case study

Ray

Fear-based barking at strangers. Built confidence gradually through structured exposure โ€” noticeably calmer in public and with visitors to the home.

Your dog can get better.

Most behaviour problems are manageable with the right approach. Cathy and Andrea have worked with a lot of difficult dogs โ€” describe what's going on and they'll take it from there.
